Bingham University has a College of Health Sciences with 3 faculties:

  1. Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences with 3 Depts. – Human Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry and Human Physiology;
  2. Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences with 5 Depts. – Chemical Pathology, Hematology & Blood Transfusion, Histopathology, Medical Microbiology & Parasitology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics;
  3. Faculty of Clinical Sciences with 6 Depts. – Community Medicine & Primary Health Care, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine with subspecialties, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics with subspecialties, Surgery (embracing General Surgery, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Orthopedic & Trauma Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, etc).

The College runs programs in medicine i.e. MBBS – (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), B.Sc. Human Anatomy and B.Sc. Human Physiology.

The Faculty of Science & Technology (Depts. – Biochemistry, Biological sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics & Statistics and Physics) runs the following programs: B.Sc. Biochemistry; B.Sc. Microbiology; B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry and B.Sc. Computer Science.

The Faculty of Humanities, Social & Management Sciences (Depts. – Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, English Language, Political Science and Sociology) runs the following programs: B.Sc. Accounting; B.Sc. Business Administration; B.Sc. Economics; B.A. English Language; B.Sc. Mass Communication; B.Sc. Political Science and B.Sc. Sociology.

All the programs have the necessary accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) either at the interim or full level.

The following programs will be due for NUC re-accreditation in Dec. 2013: B.Sc. Human Anatomy; B.Sc. Human Physiology and B.Sc. Microbiology.

The following programs will be due for NUC re-accreditation in April 2014: MBBS; B.Sc. Economics; B.Sc. Mass Communication; B.Sc. Political science and B.Sc. Sociology.

The following programs will be due for NUC re-accreditation in June 2015: B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry; B.A. English Language; B.Sc. Computer Science.

These three programs will be due for NUC reaccreditation in April 2017: B.Sc. Biochemistry; B.Sc. Accounting and B.sc. Business Administration.

The B.Sc. Accounting program also has the professional accreditation by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) while the MMBS program has obtained the two levels of professional accreditation (pre-clinical and first clinical) by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) commensurate with the level of training so far reached. The next MDCN accreditation of the MBBS program will be due in March 2013.

Many items of equipment for the various programs are needed for upgrading of present ones, especially in the medical and science programs.

Volunteer and full-time lecturers, (including during periods of holidays in Nigeria) are much needed in the various programs at the post-doctoral senior lecturer and full professorial levels in the various programs, especially in the medical and science programs.
