He who did not spare his Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Rom. 8:32.
The Bible is full of examples of God’s love, care, and faithfulness to us. Despite these assurances, we occasionally doubt His love especially when He does not come through for us in the way and time we desire.
Sarah doubted God’s promise of a son since she was passed childbearing age and made Abraham to father a son for her through her Egyptian maid. Hundreds of similar situations are recorded for us in the Bible to assure us of God’s love, care, and faithfulness but we are still missing the point.
Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit penned the verse we are considering where he rebuked us for our shallow understanding of God. God will never withhold anything good from His children. So often we desire things that will harm us, or others and God in His love and foreknowledge denies us such requests. At such times we are so desperate and think that God does not really love or care for us. That is a lie from Satan. The fact, as Paul states it, is that God has already given us His most precious gift, His only Son. If God gave you His Son, then He will gladly give you the whole world and it will just be an insignificant gift compared to the Son He gave you.
Even when we feel that God is not answering our prayers, you can always know God is a God of love. So, if God does not give you something you desire, it simply means that it is not good for you.
