For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer. 29:11
Every one of us has at one time or the other, experienced disappointment, loss, or pain. We will do anything to shield ourselves from such painful situations; however, due to our limitations, we cannot protect ourselves every time. It is comforting that God has perfect plans to prosper, protect, and give us hope and a great future. But before we charge God for not coming through for us and our loved ones, may we remember that God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He is gracious and will never withhold anything good from us. Like a good father, He disciplines us for our good and not to harm us. Like a doctor, sometimes the treatment for our sickness is painful, but it brings healing and not harm. God sees well ahead and allows good and sometimes adverse winds to get us there. Just trust Him.
