As the year wraps up in a few hours, it is time to step back and reflect to be better prepared for the New Year. Do not seek to relive the past, whether pleasant or painful. Do not waste time and energy regretting or savoring the past. Take only the lessons learned from the past to live in the present and prepare for the future. Live today considering your ultimate future goal. Do not borrow from the future to live today; instead, live today and invest in your future. Paul’s example is what we should follow. His ultimate future goal was, “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead” (Phi. 3:10, 11). As for his past, “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” (Ph. 3:13). For his present, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Phi. 3:14).
How Then Should We Live?
How will you live in 2025? Have a blessed New Year and live well.
