ut you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” Micah 5:2
Bethlehem is famous today, and we can learn some lessons from its development. We get acquainted with Bethlehem (Ephrath) for the first time as a town near where Rachel, Jacob’s wife, was buried. Many years later, David, the greatest king of Israel, was born in that town. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem in fulfillment of prophecies made 700 years earlier by Micah. Bethlehem experienced the slaughter of all male children under the age of 2, as commanded by the wicked king Herod in his attempt to eliminate Jesus Christ. Like Bethlehem, you may feel insignificant and irrelevant when compared to others; yet, like Bethlehem, if Jesus Christ is born in you, your status changes. You have a new identity and a new family called the Church. You are known in heaven by God and the angels.
