“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” Matt. 18:19.
God does hear and answer the prayers of individuals that are offered in faith and in accordance with His will. However, God has a soft spot for prayers that are prayed corporately in agreement. My guess is because it reflects the oneness or unity in the Godhead and God desperately wants His children to exemplify that.
Jesus prayed in John 17 that we be one as He and the Father are one. I have witnessed the truth of this verse whenever my wife and I pray together over issues and also when our family comes together to pray. I believe you can testify to that as well. This is exactly what God wants His church to do so we will remain victorious. Sadly, Satan has out maneuvered us by keeping us divided over things like denominationalism, racism, gender, generation, political party, economic status etc. Even in one church, we hardly pray in agreement because we pray based on our opinions rather than scripture which will ensure that we are praying according to God’s declared will.
When in church we are told to pray in unison on a topic without giving a scripture reference and sense of direction for the prayers, what happens? Prayer of agreement hardly happens. We need guidance so we are in sync with one another, the Word and the Holy Spirit regarding the issue we are praying about.
