For even when we were with you, you gave you this rule: The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat. 2 Thes. 3:10
Work is any effort we engage in, physical or mental, to accomplish a goal. We will not get into the debate on some activities that could be classified as work by some and idleness by others. Work is real and leads to physical and mental exhaustion resulting in the need to rest or take a break. God created the world in six days and chose to rest on the 7th though He was not exhausted. He set a pattern for us to follow. Work is good and should not be a drag or burdensome. God is always working (John 5:17). Adam and Eve were assigned work they enjoyed doing before sin interrupted and redefined work for us. Right after the fall, God cursed the ground and made childbearing a painful experience. Work requires a lot of effort and pain, and even so, the return is dismal. All the same, work is not an option. It is a requirement for us, and anyone that will not work shall not eat.
